Domestic Resources

Founded in 1988, the Wildlife Habitat Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping large landowners, particularly corporations, manage their unused lands in an ecologically sensitive manner for the benefit of wildlife.

Restore America's Estuaries is a national nonprofit organization committed to preserving the nation's network of estuaries by protecting and restoring the lands and waters essential to the richness and diversity of coastal life.

The Coastal America Foundation provides support to the National Coastal America partnership and its initiatives that protect, preserve and restore aquatic habitats in the United States.

This support includes education and outreach through the Coastal Ecosystem Learning Centers, military training that restores the environment and the Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership nationally and internationally.


Coastal America is an action-oriented, results-driven process aimed at restoring and preserving vital coastal ecosystems and addressing our most critical environmental issues.

The Coastal America Partnership was launched in 1991 by former President George H.W. Bush and formalized in 1992 with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by nine sub-cabinet level agency representatives.


The Nature Conservancy is one of the leading conservation organizations working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

Founded in 1951, this organization as contributed to the protection of more than 117 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of rivers worldwide.

International Resources

The International Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership (ICWRP) is a way for business, government, and civil society to help protect and restore our world's costal areas, including wetlands, mangroves, coral reefs, and other aquatic habitats.

Aquatic habitats contribute billions of dollars to the global economy through tourism, fishing, and other forms of commerce—but are disappearing at an alarming rate. ICWRP responds to the threats these habitats face through the involvement of environmentally responsible companies and conservation partners.


The Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971, is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. There are presently 157 Contracting Parties to the Convention, with 1702 wetland sites, totaling 153 million hectares, designated for inclusion in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance.

The United Nations Foundation builds and implements public-private partnerships to address the world’s most pressing problems, and broadens support for the UN through advocacy and public outreach.
